An alliance between Emerald Primary School, Sports Challenge Australia and Tenix has kicked goals for all students in fitness development and life skills during 2012.

A meeting with the school principal Mr Mark Carver and Sports Challenge CEO Dr Garry Tester lead the school to completing ‘world first’ objective assessments of fitness levels and self-esteem to give teachers (MIS) Data in Pastoral Care and Physical Education, along with selected students developing improved life skills in communication , team work and aspirational goals for the future.
With funding of programs always an issue in government schools Dr Tester sought the support of Tenix who under their parent company Tenix Infrastructure (who looks after the power networks throughout the area) help support financially to deliver these programs.
Tenix Victorian Manager Infrastructure Mr Marco Lupacchini jumped at the opportunity to assist, especially with the wonderful support of the teaching staff of Emerald who were eager to have the best possible programs available to assist students to reach their full potential.
Under the stewardship of Sports Challenge mentors Ryan Harding, Melany Bourke and Kieran McDowell the Emerald Students responded magnificently. The zest for physical activity has grown exponentially throughout the year and students involved in the life skills program have shown very good improvement across the board.

As senior mentor Ryan Harding explained, “It is always refreshing to work at schools where there is genuine passion from the Principal down to improve the education outcomes for all. We have kicked some great goals with these Emerald students and look forward to coming years”.
Both Sports Challenge and Tenix are looking forward to being part of the community over the coming years.
