The Sec 1 Cedar Girls embarked on a new Leadership journey with their Sports Challenge mentors in May with great success. “The Girls” as we became to know them were enthusiastic from day one, providing the Sports Challenge mentors, Ben Emerson (Basketball) Brendan Webb (Surfing) Janelle Treeby (Netball) and Camilla Milburn (Manager) with endless challenges to quench their insatiable thirst for knowledge.
The Girls’ participated in many outdoor experiential (hands on) activities and indoor cognitive activities that challenged them to move out of their comfort zone and develop themselves further as both leaders and individuals. “The Girls” were tasked with organising an event to showcase their school and were given 45 minutes to achieve this, to the mentors delight “The Girls” moved straight into action in their small groups and brainstormed their ideas. Once their time was up they were to present their ideas to the whole group, to our delight the ideas were innovative, creative and most of all entertaining.
The program ended with the Great Egg Drop where “The Girls” not only showed off their creative prowess but showed us all how to scream with delight!!!
