Rising High at Gembrook

The enthusiastic and energetic students at Gembrook Primary School enjoyed 2 weeks of fun and learning with Sports Challenge coaches Janelle Treeby, Brendan Webb, Shaun O’Doherty and Julian Walton.
The program got off to a great start with Sports Challenge Manager, Camilla Milburn, introducing the program and coaches to the excited students. The Icebreaker activities saw the beginning of a friendly rivalry between the teams  as they strived to work together to succeed.
Throughout the program the students were tasked with many problem solving activities, one in particular was Sports Challenges own version of survivor (all on paper!!).  The students were tasked to design a tropical island that they could survive on, what would they need? the coaches asked.  They presented some fantastic and creative ideas and their team work payed off, as all looked like they would certainly survive on their ‘tropical island’.
The sport sessions were a hit with the Sports Challenge students as they shot hoops, weaved the soccer ball through the goals and booted footy’s around the oval. The sense of team building and comradeship built within the group.
The program finished on a high as the student’s creations built from eggs and balloons flew through the sky with the stunning backdrop of the hills from Gembrook Primary School.
