Teachers Show The Way

Linda Cruz from CHIJ Primary Toa Payoh and "The Mat"proves puzzling to the girls from CHIJLizah Rahman from Cedar Girls Secondary have shown why they are both outstanding teachers and ambassadors for their respective schools.
To allow their potential school leaders an opportunity to be involved in the launch of the new ‘world first’ Emotional Intelligence (EI) program, some 200 girls were involved during May. An experiential, (hands on) mentoring learning medium was created for the project to develop the skills of emotional literacy, emotional creativity, empathy, social relationships, effective teamwork, emotional fitness, generosity, kindness and helpfulness, all essential skills for a good leader.
The enthusiasm shown by Linda Cruz was infectious at CHIJ, with 105 students taking up the program in out of school hours. Linda explains: “The Sports Challenge team led by Camilla Milburn showed our girls how to develop EI and how much better their relationships with peers, family and the community can be … we loved the program.”
A sentiment echoed by Lizah Rahman at Cedar Secondary: “The extensive objective data, the highly motivational activities, the mentor evaluations of each girl and the student feedback showed our investment for the future of the school is in good hands.”
The final word belongs to Anissa a Year 5 student at CHIJ: “This was the first time in my whole life where I could be myself, have fun, learn and share my ideas openly with others … it was fantastic.”
