GREAT EGG DROP ‘EGGCITES’ SINGAPOREAN STUDENTS

Dr Garry Tester (CEO Sports Challenge) prepares to test out one of the egg carrying designsThe experiential learning activity ‘The Great Egg Drop’ proved a hit in culminating the recent Sports Challenge program at Serangoon, Pei Hwa and Compassvale Secondary in Singapore.
The activity allows students to work in a team environment and demonstrate their skills in the areas of planning, budgeting, innovation, time management, conflict resolution, team work and effective two way communication.
One of the scrambled egg drop attemptsUnder the guidance of Programs Coordinator Jacqui Finnegan and Lead Mentor Amanda Hopps each team member was evaluated on their skills in building a vehicle to transport a normal egg dropped from a height approximately three metres.
All students ‘scrambled’ with ‘eggcitement’ and were ‘eggsact’ with their preparations for their egg transporting vehicle!
As Jacqui Finnegan explained “It is so rewarding for us to see all the hard work in learning, developing and applying these new life skills come to the forefront in this activity. We can clearly see the change in the student’s attitudes and commitment from the start to finish of the program”.
More importantly no one was left with ‘egg on their faces!’
