The Sports Challenge Singapore program in March 2009 was off to a successful start as the crew of mentors joined the team of Phys Ed staff at Ping Yi Secondary. The mentors involved in the program included Sydney Nusbaum, Ryan Harding, Sophie Rist, and Justin Tarpey. All Secondary 1 and 4 students participated in a 2-week Skill Testing program, measuring the students’ abilities in Ball Skills and Ed Gym. The objective measures will assist the school in identifying students for their CCA programs and in targeting the school’s PE program where the greatest needs are. Reports were processed and sent home to parents, outlining their child’s score compared to the school average and the national average. Thanks to the efficient efforts of HOD PE, Mr Azlan, along with the rest of the Ping Yi staff, the program was tremendously successful. The coaches observed a great deal of potential in the students tested, and hope that they keep practicing these skills in time for Sports Challenge’s next visit. Well-done Ping Yi!!!
